Description
The Kum Automatic AS2 is a specialty pencil sharpener that produces long sharp points. The sharpener is designed for 8mm diameter pencils, and is fitted with a container to store waste shavings. It includes two (2) spare blades.
The pencil is sharpened in two (2) separate steps using the corresponding two (2) sharpener holes.
Step 1: Hole “1” is used to shave off the outer wooden part of the pencil. Sharpen the pencil in hole “1” until it stops by reaching the sharpener’s stopper.
Step 2: Hole “2” is used to sharpen the inner pencil lead. Sharpen the pencil in hole “2” until it stops by reaching the sharpener’s stopper.
Long point sharpeners are very popular among artists, designers and architects. Tiny details and lines can be drawn easily, and the pencils stay sharp longer and don’t have to be sharpened as often. The sharpener blade sharpens in a particularly sharp angle, forming an extremely long and thin point.
Because the point is extremely thin, long point sharpeners are only suitable for high-quality pencils. Otherwise, the pencil tip will break.

Kum sharpener blades are equipped with ultra hard (65 HRC) and razor sharp high carbon steel blades. These blades are harder than ball bearings or any high quality knife. Each blade is razor-sharp, significantly sharper than stainless steel blades.
Kum sharpeners are unique in employing a curved blade. The blade is held flat by a screw like a spring. Due to the curved knife, the knife edges are under constant tension and are not lifted by the pressure during sharpening. This prevents the pen tip from “springing out” or tearing. In addition, the pressure against the screw prevents it from loosening.
